Burning
Burning was an awful way to die, so bad in fact that many could not stand to watch and even the executioner would sometimes feel empathy and ease some of the pain by placing gun powder at the base of the stake to speed up the death of the convicted. Though if the executioner did not feel the need to ease along the process the suffering would be extreme with the victims only hope being that they suffocate to death by the smoke before being burned completely. Due to the gruesomeness of this punishment it was usually reserved for crimes seen as the worst in the eyes of the crown, such as high treason and practicing witchcraft.
